....A Serious Post - I know! You thought they were a myth! But, they do exist!......

Remaining pure. Now there's a topic that's touchy. Personally, I agree with Josh Harris. Dating shouldn't be about our feelings. Whether or not this is the person you want to marry. That's the question you ought to be trying to settle. I already had vague ideas of this before I read Joshua Harris' book I Kissed Dating Goodbye and it's sequel Boy meets Girl but, reading it just helped clarify so many things for me. I now have clear-cut views about how to go about getting the right guy. That didn't come out right. Of course, I know whoever's out there for me isn't gonna be perfect and I know there's no "set of rules" about exactly how to go about finding someone. But, I have a point now. I'm gonna dedicate myself to being better. Always praying and asking God for guidance, wisdom, mercy, and help along the way. Working each day to become a better and better person so I can glorify God and, in so doing, become a person better able to love, honor, and obey, my future husband. I don't date. I will court - Though I know it really doesn't matter what you call it. I just love that term. - whenever I am ready and responsible enough to be married. (Although I'll obviously be having to ask alot of people before I'll know that.) I like that girl who wrote that article entitled Don't Kiss Me, I'm right there with her.

I'm right there with you. I've not read all of "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" yet, but I have heard the points being passed around. I made a promise to God, my future husband, and myself that I would not date until I was out of high school. Now that I'm getting ready to graduate, I have to rethink a lot of the ways I've been living. I don't know what God has for me, but I know it will be more wonderful than I can even imagine. We just have to keep praying for patience as we await God's perfect timing.

:D Thanks for the opportunity to ramble!

I think it's a nice idealistic thought but ultimately unworkable.

Dating is good for alot of reasons. It allows you to learn about others in ways you cannot do using this authors method. Marriage is a big step and I think this book sets them up for failure as much as success.

Anyone who thinks changing the ritual will make one succeed in marriage doesn't know much about marriage in the first place.

I know people who stayed 'pure' and have had the marriage end. Simply put this method no more ensures a successful marriage than any other.
